What the ATO requires
For a taxable sale under $1,000 a tax invoice must show that it is intended to be a tax invoice, your identity and ABN, the date it was issued, a description of what was sold with quantity and price, the GST amount, and which sales are taxable. Common questions
Is this tax invoice ATO compliant?
The template includes every field the ATO requires for a taxable sale: the words tax invoice, your identity and ABN, the date issued, a description and price for each item, the GST amount, and which lines are taxable. Fill in the customer details as well and it also meets the extra requirement that applies to sales of $1,000 or more.
Do I need to sign up or give an email address?
No. There is no account and no email gate. The invoice is built in your browser and saved to this device only.
How do I save it as a PDF?
Press "Print or save as PDF" and choose "Save as PDF" as the destination in your browser print dialog. The form and navigation are hidden automatically — only the invoice prints.
Can I use it if I am not registered for GST?
Turn the GST toggle off on every line. The document then shows no GST — though if you are not registered you should head it "Invoice" rather than "Tax invoice", which this tool does not do. Use the quote template or your own header in that case.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser local storage, so you can come back to a half-finished invoice. Nothing is transmitted to us. Press Clear to wipe it.
